Rehearsal (Labor Day through Memorial Day): Sunday mornings at 9:00 am in the church sanctuary. Please join us! (no summer choir)
United Methodists have long been known as “The Singing Church” and the Darlington congregation is no exception. A very special part of the church’s history is its music program. Throughout the years several fine organists/pianists have led the congregation’s worship on Sunday mornings. Dedicated choir directors and singers add a special touch to the Sunday morning worship. A special tradition of the choir is the annual Christmas Eve Candlelit Choral Service. The service is a true reminder of the reason for the season. Luminaries line the sidewalks of the park in front of the church to guide people into the sanctuary, which is lit by candle. It is a truly memorable event which has celebrated the birth of Christ Jesus now for over 75 years. The Senior Choir (High School aged and older) is a volunteer organization comprised of about twenty five members. There are no try-outs or strings attached. There are only music-loving people who like to have fun and sing praises to the Lord. Members of the choir do not have to be members of the church. We welcome everyone to come and partake. Practices are Sunday mornings at 9am in the sanctuary prior to the worship service.
United Methodist Men:
All adult men within the church comprise the United Methodist Men organization. Our local mission is to recognize, thank, and lift up to God in prayer those who are in service to others. This includes, but is not limited to, our military, police, fire fighters, EMS, highway maintenance personnel, and so forth. To learn more please contact the UMM President, Rick Loken.
United Methodist Women:
All women of the church are collectively known as the United Methodist Women and meet the 3rd Sunday of each month in the League Room after Sunday Service.
Under their auspices two women’s groups are active:
- Charity Circle - meets the 1st Wednesday of each month, September through May, at 7:00 p.m. To learn more, please contact Joan Thompson
- Sewing Group - meets every Thursday in the Youth Education Center at 9:00am.
